Founder & CEO, Roundtable (Nasdaq: RTB) — Chair, Roundtable 100 Blue Ribbon Committee

James C. Heckman is founder and CEO of Roundtable (Nasdaq: RTB), the AI/DeFi media platform behind Roundtable 100, and has spent three decades building and selling media companies across nearly every major cycle of the commercial internet. He is widely credited as a pioneer of social networking and blogging platforms, having built some of the earliest versions of both well before they became mainstream categories.

His track record includes founding and leading Maven (NYSE: AREN), which he grew into a roughly $120 million public company providing publishing, distribution, and monetization for around 300 brands — including Sports Illustrated, Maxim, History.com, and TheStreet — reaching over 150 million monthly users. Earlier in his career, Heckman served as head of global media strategy at Yahoo!, where he signed AOL, Disney, and dozens of other major brands to a unified premium marketplace reaching a billion consumers, and as chief strategy officer at Fox Digital, where he helped architect a landmark programmatic social advertising alliance between Google and Myspace and contributed to Hulu's formation. He also founded 5to1.com (acquired by Yahoo!), Scout.com and Rivals.com/Rivals.net (acquired by Fox and Yahoo!, respectively), and served as chief strategy officer at Zazzle.com.

Roundtable, built alongside DeFi technology co-creator Eyal Hertzog, is Heckman's tenth major media platform and the first to combine AI-driven journalism with a Web3 token model.

As chair of the Roundtable 100 Blue Ribbon Committee, Heckman brings the founder's view of the ranking's mission — and three decades of pattern-matching on which platforms and technologies actually win.
